DES MOINES – City High opened the season on Tuesday with a conference match against a ranked opponent.
Things only got more challenging for the Little Hawks on Thursday.
Class 5A No. 15 City High (0-4) dropped three matches to ranked opponents at the Des Moines Roosevelt quadrangular on Thursday.
City High dropped matches to top-ranked Johnston 25-20, 16-25, 11-15, No. 12 Des Moines Roosevelt 25-22, 25-20 and fifth-ranked West Des Moines Valley 25-22, 28-26.
Alexa Aldrich-Ingram had a team-high 10 kills in the three-set loss to Johnston.
Shannon Stamp and Shannon James each had four kills against Johnston while Sydney Schroder added 12 assists and two ace serves.
Against Des Moines Roosevelt Aldrich-Ingram and Murphy each had five kills while Stamp added four.
James had three kills and two ace serves against Roosevelt while Schroder had a pair of ace serves.
In the finale against West Des Moines Valley Aldrich-Ingram led the Little Hawks with 10 kills.
Schroder had eight assists and Stamp had five kills against the Tigers.
