Dodge Wins Individual Title at Bud Williams Invitational

Matthew Dodge won the individual title to lead City High to a first place team finish at the Bud Williams Invitational on Thursday at Kicker Soccer Park in Iowa City.

Dodge won in a time of 16:39.6, more than three seconds faster than runner-up Ryan Millikin of Pekin.

City High placed three runners in the top five and had all seven runners finish in the top ten on its way to the team title with 25 points.

Pekin was second with 48 and Cedar Rapids Jefferson was third with 79.

Michael Berg placed fourth in 16:47.1 for City High while Michael Taylor finished fifth in 16:53.7.

City High Cruises to Team Title at Bud Williams Invitational

The City High girls cross country team had six runners place in the top 10 and cruised to the team title at the Bud Williams Invitational on Thursday at Kickers Soccer Park in Iowa City.

Class 4A fourth-ranked City High got a runner-up finish from sophomore Anna Lindower and finished with 20 points, 33 in front of second place Ottuwa.

Lindower finished second in 19:26.4 just more than 12 seconds behind individual champion Kylie Latham of Ottumwa.

Emily Bywater placed third for City High while Esti Brady was fourth, Kinsee Brands was fifth and Annie Rummelhart was sixth.

Bridget Brown added a ninth place finish for City High.

City High Keeps Rolling With Win Over 4A No. 2 Marion

Another day, another win over a ranked team for City High.

Class 5A No. 12 City High won for seventh time in its last eight matches with a 12-25, 27-25, 25-22, 25-17 win over Class 4A second-ranked Marion (17-6) on Thursday in Marion.

City High improved to 12-9 on the season with its fifth win over a ranked team since last Saturday.

Alexa Aldrich-Ingram led City High with17 kills, 28 assists and 18 digs.

Shannon James had 13 kills and 12 digs in the while Ellie Evans and Shannon Stamp each had nine kills.

Sydney Schroder had 24 assists for City High while Grace Brown had 32 digs and McKenzie Ribble added 15 digs.

Isabella Sade had a match-high 22 kills to lead Marion.

City High Downs Dubuque Senior in MVC Dual

City High defeated Dubuque Senior 110-76 in a Mississippi Valley Conference dual at the Mercer Park Aquatic Center.

Freshman Carly Weigel and junior Laura Lorenger both won a pair of individual events and swam on a pair of winning relays to lead the Little Hawks.

Weigel won the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke and helped the Little Hawks win the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.

Lorenger won the 100 breaststroke and the 200 freestyle and was a member of the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams.

Senior Devan O’Rourke won the 100 butterfly and junior Edie Knoop won the 500 freestyle for City High while senior Andrea Adam finished first in the diving competition.

After winning five matches on Saturday to claim the title at the Dubuque Hempstead tournament City High picked up where it left off on Tuesday.

City High won for the sixth time in its last seven matches with a 25-16, 25-7, 25-13 sweep of Cedar Rapids Washington in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division matchup in Cedar Rapids.

Alexa Aldrich-Ingram had 14 kills and 14 assists to lead City High while Ellie Evans and Shannon Stamp each added seven kills.

Sydney Schroder delivered 25 kills as City High improved to 11-9 on the season and 2-2 in MVC Valley Division play.

Grace Brown led City High with 15 digs and McKenzie Ribble had 11 digs.

Class 5A sixth-ranked Cedar Rapids Kennedy defeated City High 25-14, 25-17, 25-17 in a Mississippi Valley Conference match in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday.

Alexa Aldrich-Ingram led City High with eight kills while Shannon James added five kills.

Grace Brown had a team-high 13 digs for the Little Hawks.

Weigel Earns Two Individual Wins in Dual Loss to Linn-Mar

City High fell to Linn-Mar 97-89 in a Mississippi Valley Conference dual on Tuesday at Mercer Park Aquatic Center.

Freshman Carly Weigel won the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke for City High and was on the Little Hawks winning 200 freestyle relay team.

Andrea Adam won the one-meter diving competition with a score of 249.2 while freshman Trinity Sadecky won the 500 freestyle.

Third-ranked Hempstead Rallies Past City High

City High had third-ranked Dubuque Hempstead on the ropes on Tuesday.

The Mustangs managed to wiggle away.

Class 5A No. 3 Dubuque Hempstead rallied from an early deficit to escape with a 20-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-21, 15-6 win over City High in a Mississippi Valley Conference match at City High.

The Mustangs scored the final 10 points of the fifth set to overcome a 6-5 deficit.

City High dropped to 5-7 on the season with the loss and 1-3 in MVC play.

Senior Alexa Aldrich-Ingram led City High with 19 kills and 18 assists while Shannon Stamp added eight kills.

Shannon James added six kills and Kenzie Ribble had 21 assists for City High.

Grace Brown led the Little Hawks with13 digs while Ellie Grace Dixon added 11 digs.

Johnson, Mcintire pace City High at MVC Divisional Meet

The City High boys golf team shot a 372 on Monday to place seventh at the first Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Divisional meet at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls.

Campbell Johnson and Will Mcintire each shot a 90 on Monday to lead the Little Hawks.

Cedar Rapids Washington shot a 290 to win the team title at the first divisional meet which is the second of three meets used by the MVC to determine divisional champions and all-conference honors.

The first event used was the MVC supermeet in August and the final MVC Valley Divisional meet is Sept. 26 at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City.

Alex Kooker shot a 94 on Monday as City High improved its score from the supermeet by 28 strokes.

With its 290 on Monday, Cedar Rapids Washington enters the final divisional meet with a five-stroke lead on second place Cedar Falls.

City High defeated Dubuque Hempstead 123-63 in a Mississippi Valley Conference dual on Thursday.

The Little Hawks won 10 events on Thursday led by Carly Weigel who won the 200 IM, the 100 freestyle and swam on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay teams.

Andrea Adam continued her dual meet winning streak with a season best score of 246.05 in the diving competition.

Other individual winners were Devan O'Rourke in the 100 butterfly, Trinity Sadecky in the 100 backstroke and Clara Froeschner in the 100 breaststroke.

City High Goes 4-1 at Home Tournament

City High rallied for a pair of three set wins on its way to finishing 4-1 at its home tournament on Saturday.

The Little Hawks rebounded from first-set losses to earn three-set wins against 4A No. 7 Western Dubuque (22-24, 21-16, 15-10) and 4A No. 13 Council Bluffs Lewis Central (14-21, 23-21, 15-13).

The lone loss for City High was a 21-9, 21-16 setback to 5A top-ranked Ankeny Centennial as the Little Hawks improved to 5-5 on the season with its 4-1 performance on Saturday.

Shannon James and Alexa Aldrich-Ingram each had six kills as City High opened the day with a 21-15, 25-23 win over Davis County.

Sydney Schroder had 12 assists, 14 digs and three ace serves in the win while Shannon Stamp added five kills.

James had seven kills and Aldrich-Ingram added six kills in a 21-18, 21-7 win over Grandview Christian.

Schroder handed out six assists in the win.

Against Lewis Central, Aldrich-Ingram paced City High with 11 kills while James added eight and Ellie Evans had six.

Aldrich-Ingram had eight kills in the come-from-behind win over Western Dubuque and Schroder had eight assists.

James had two kills to lead City High in the loss to Ankeny Centennial.
